Artist's Description
The French version of the greeting card is entitled "Mourir d'aimer".
Digital work on my original watercolor artwork. This work, with it's strong dark-blood reds, symbolizes the dramatic intensity of love.
Songs always inspired me. "Mourir d'aimer" is the title of a song by the French singer Charles Aznavour. It could be translated by "dying of love", "to die of loving", the idea being to die of loving someone, slowly, with pain. It is also a way to insist in an other point of view of love, that gives more importance to the voluntary act of loving. One cannot help it... We love.
There is also a film called "mourir d'aimer", a true story of love between a teacher and one of her student (sad ending, based on a true story that happened in France). Here, loving is impossible for some reason not related to the lovers, but to the rules, the society, the context ... Then the lovers would prefer to die than to separate, or the pain is so huge that it would kill the...
